Marshwood Middle School Participates in Immersive Experience

Cinco’s Rochester recently welcomed students from Marshwood Middle School for an immersive educational field trip that turned lunch into a hands-on cultural and language-learning experience.

Through Cinco’s Immersive Field Trip program, students stepped beyond the classroom and into a real-world Spanish-speaking environment. Our bilingual team took orders, answered questions, and engaged with students entirely in Spanish, giving them the opportunity to practice their language skills in an authentic and meaningful setting.

The visit included interactive cultural experiences such as a fresh tortilla-making demonstration, where students learned how corn tortillas are made from scratch while building vocabulary and sequencing skills, and a table-side guacamole experience that blended culinary fun with language learning.

“From the moment we arrived, every detail was thoughtfully planned,” said Tamara Dubis, Spanish Teacher at Marshwood Middle School. “The tortilla-making, guacamole experience, and opportunities to order in Spanish created an authentic, memorable cultural experience. Our students experienced Spanish not simply as a subject, but as a living language. Many shared this was one of their favorite experiences of the school year.”

Cinco’s Immersive Field Trips are designed to make language and culture come alive through food, conversation, and shared experiences.
